These instructions assume that a till has already been installed somewhere and needs a new identity. This is covered in more detail on the till Set Up from Scratch page.

To make sute the till will be able to communicate effectively and be able to receive files the following needs to be done.

1. Setup IP Address(s)

On the Till
Click Start > Control Panel > Network Connections
Double Click ‘Local Area Network’
Click Properties
Scroll Down and click ‘Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)’
Click Properties
Check ‘Use the following IP Address’
Enter the IP Address allocated by head office (i.e 10.1.67.1)
Please note the last number is the till number so 10.1.67.2 would be till 2.
Enter subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Enter gateway based on the IP address but ends 254
Press OK
Now close all open windows.

2.To rename the Till

Click Start > Control Panel >System
Click on the "Computer Name" Tab
Click the "Change" button. Here you enter the PC Name e.g. JG0123-1
Click OK
The till will ask you to restart.

3. Simple Tests

You can perform some simple tests to test the connection from the store to head office is working.

Click Start > Run
Type ‘CMD’
Press Enter
Type ‘ping 192.168.98.2’
Press Enter

You should see 4 x ‘Reply from 192.168.98.2……’ appear on the screen. This indicates that the connection to head office is up and working.

Still in Command Prompt type 'ipconfig'

This should bring up the network settings you entered earlier.

Type Exit & Press Enter to close the screen.
